Echeveria Elegans 'Mexican Snowball' Care

Echeveria elegans 'Mexican snowball' is a very low maintenance succulent that doesn't require much water, but needs a good amount of sunlight. It will need about 6 hours of direct sunlight every single day so it can produce its beautiful bright colors and of course to avoid etiolation. It will also need some partial shade so it can take a break from the sun and avoid sun damage.

Echeveria elegans isn't cold hardy, so frost and freezing temperatures will harm and most likely kill this succulent. If the weather gets under 30 degrees then it's a good idea to grow this succulent indoors during the cold winter season.

Fast/well draining succulent soil is very important when growing this succulent. Fast/well draining succulent soil will drain the excess water, this will help prevent overwatering and root rot. Root rot is very dangerous and fast/well draining succulent soil helps prevent root rot. It's also important to use a succulent pot with a drainage hole. This will allow the excess water in the soil to drain out of the bottom of the pot. This will also help prevent root rot and overwatering.

Water the Echeveria elegans 'Mexican snowball' 1-2 days a week or when the soil looks or feels very dry. It's important to not overwater this succulent because overwatering will cause root rot. Keep track of the exact last time you watered this succulent, so if a watering issue does occur you will know what's wrong with the succulent. Be on the lookout for under watering and overwatering symptoms. Under watering symptoms would be dry/wrinkled leaves, and overwatering symptoms would be mushy/moldy leaves.

It's also very important to not get water on the leaves of your Echeveria elegans 'Mexican snowball'. If water gets on the leaves then there's a chance that fungus will grow. The fungus will make the leaves fall of and land in the soil. If this happens then it may attract succulent pests such as mealybugs.
