They are so easy to grow, literally if you have the right requirements anyone can grow succulents! They are very hardy, low maintenance plants, this is what makes them very easy to grow indoors.
They are basically the plant that gives everyone an opportunity to anyone that wants to grow plants, but doesn’t really know where to start, or even have a place to grow plants. They are such a great beginner plant to start growing and caring!
You can grow them anywhere! Of course they still need the right requirements, but with the right requirements, succulents can grow in your home, office, outdoors etc… They are the plant that gives everyone a chance to finally start growing!

A succulent will die in frost and freezing temperatures, so you can’t grow them in weather under 30 degrees. That doesn’t mean you can’t just move them inside for the winter, you can! It’s best to move and grow succulents indoors for the winter to avoid frost and freezing temperatures.

In my opinion, what makes a succulent so special is the unique, beautiful look they give off to people. Their colors are simply so amazing and beautiful, succulents will definitely turn some heads because of how colorful they are.
Also their shape is what makes them so unique, some succulents have incredible looks/shapes to them. That’s the great thing about succulents, there’s not just 1 plant! There’s hundreds of succulents out there, and all of those succulents have their own unique characteristics.
There are so many different types of succulents out there, and the best part is all of them have their different colors, sizes, and designs.
What also makes them so special is they are so easy to grow and care for! There’s a reason most beginner plant growers all start with succulents, because they are the beginner plant! Like I mentioned, anyone can grow succulents, you just must be patient, kind, and use all the techniques growers recommend and you can grow them!
Succulents are drought tolerant, they don’t need much water to begin with. In fact, the most common, easiest way a succulent will die is because of overwatering your succulent. When you overwater a succulent, root rot will appear and will most likely kill your succulent. Root rot is the #1 reason why a succulent will die.
You literally only have to water your succulent about once a week! Isn’t that amazing!?! Just give your plant a little water once a week and it will continue to grow healthy, and happy!
What also makes succulents so great is that you can easily make and grow a lot more of them for free! For free?!? Yes, there is a thing called succulent propagation, which basically means you can grow and start new plants from a leaf or a cutting! This is very easy to do once you get it down but it’s very hard at first. Succulent propagation is so great, you just have to cut off some leaves or cuttings, wait until they callus, water, give light, and they will root and make brand new healthy fresh succulents! Of course this takes a lot of time and patience, but it’s totally worth it!
Are Cactus Succulents?
Yes and no. Cacti are a unique subset of the succulent group, some very very similar to each other but most of them are different. They are definitely in the same family, they have both similar shapes, colors, and spikes on them. Cactaceae (cactus family) is one of the largest families in the succulent world, making them very similar yet different to each other.
Both cactus and succulents store water in them, cactus store water in their main body and succulents store water in their leaves. Basically, most succulents are considered cacti however, a lot of them are very different from each other. It really all depends on the shape, color, or pricks on the succulent or cacti.
Where are Succulents From?
Succulents grow in natural habitats and are found all over the entire world. Most succulents are found and grown in very dry climates where regular plants will not survive in. This is why succulents are very easy to grow because they are known to live in crazy environments that make them used to normal environments.
Succulents come from rainforests, mountains, deserts, semi-deserts, dry climates, ranging from Africa, to North America and South America. Succulents are also found off coastal areas and lakes.
Are Succulents Easy to Care for?
Yes, succulents are very easy to grow and care for. At first you might struggle a bit, but once you grow your first one successfully you will grow many other ones successfully. However, a lot of beginners make beginner mistakes that do end up killing their succulents because they didn’t follow the right steps.
One common thing that beginners struggle with would definitely be overwatering. Overwatering is very common because beginners think that their succulents need a lot of water. As we have mentioned, succulents don’t need or want too much water, they are drought tolerant plants.
The #1 most common reason why a succulent will die is because of root rot. Root rot only occurs when a succulent has been overwatered. Beginners will overwater their succulents, giving them root rot, which they don’t know how to treat, the succulent will then die due to root rot and overwatering.
Succulents are easy to grow and care for but you must make sure you give them proper water and light. On top of that, succulents will need to be grown using fast/well draining succulent soil and grown in a succulent pot with a drainage hole.
Can Succulents be Grown Indoors?
Yes, succulents can be grown indoors! In fact, this is why succulents are getting more and more popular, people are growing them indoors! They make such great houseplants because of how beautiful and unique they look! They also help keep fresh air and remove toxins from the environment.
So yes, succulents can be grown indoors or outdoors. You will just need to make sure you follow all of the proper steps for indoor growing because it’s kinda different!
Do Succulents need a lot of Sun?
Succulents will need at least 6 hours of sunlight every single day. This is a good amount for healthy growth, for producing its bright colors, and for of course preventing etiolation. It’s also best to give your succulent some partial shade so it can take a break from the burning sun and prevent sun damage.
Popular Types of Succulents
There are a few popular types of succulents out there. Some of my favorites would be echeveria, aeonium, and crassula. Those species are all very popular and very easy to grow and care for.
My favorite succulents would be the irish rose, aeonium kiwi, black rose, jade plant, and echeveria black knight. Those are some of my favorite succulents out there and they make such lovely indoor or outdoor decorations.
